Job Description

The Motor Control Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing control systems for electric motors in humanoid robots, ensuring high performance, reliability, and compliance with safety standards. You will work closely with hardware, software, and testing engineering teams to bring products from concept to real-world implementation, focusing on precise motion and energy efficiency for robot joints.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop motor control algorithms (e.g., FOC – Field Oriented Control, DTC – Direct Torque Control) using simulation tools like MATLAB/Simulink, applied to humanoid robot Actuator
  • Implement and test control software on embedded platforms (microcontrollers such as STM32, DSP) and related hardware (inverters, sensors) to support smooth robot motion.
  • Analyze and optimize motor performance, including speed control, torque, and energy efficiency for joints.
  • Collaborate with the R&D team to integrate control systems into final robot products, ensuring compatibility with international standards (IEC, ISO).
  • Conduct (bench tests, field tests) and troubleshoot issues to ensure system durability and safety in practical environments.
  • Prototype, debug, and test motor driver boards, including bench testing for current sensing, switching efficiency, fault tolerance, CAN BUS/Ethernet data transmission, and MIT Mode tuning.

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Automation, or a related field.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in designing and developing electric motor control systems (preference for experience with BLDC, PMSM, or Induction Motors in robotics or automation).
  • Proficiency in tools: MATLAB/Simulink, C/C++, embedded programming; knowledge of hardware (FPGA, ADC/DAC).
  • In-depth understanding of control theory (PID, state-space, predictive control) and power electronics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, teamwork abilities, and effective communication.
  • Good English proficiency (reading/writing) for working with international technical documentation.
  • Preferred: Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified LabVIEW Developer) or experience with software like dSPACE, Typhoon HIL; experience in humanoid robotics or exoskeletons.

Compensation:

VinDynamics offers a competitive base, full benefits and other incentives. Flexible time-off policy. Focus on output and ability to work with an interdisciplinary team.
